Ellen’s practice is focused on the legal rights and issues arising from the death of an individual or the loss of his or her mental capacity/independence. Common issues that Ellen assists clients with include: estate litigation and mediation, legal guardianship applications, power of attorney/trustee/beneficiary disputes, Last Will challenges, passing of accounts, transitioning from independent living to long-term care placement, liaise between clients and the Public Guardian and Trustee, hospital doctors/staff, Community Care Access Center and similar organizations/agencies.

In addition to her Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School, Ellen also holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Law and Justice from Laurentian University where she graduated Cum Laude. Additionally, Ellen has a Diploma as a Court and Tribunal Agent from Humber College where she graduated with Honours. Ellen was fortunate to have been mentored by the Honourable Justice Mary Vallee prior to Justice Vallee’s appointment to the Ontario Superior Court Bench in February 2013.

Since joining the firm in 2007, Ellen has had an opportunity to gain a variety of general litigation experience which proves to be an invaluable foundation to her estate litigation practice. During this time period, Ellen has represented clients before the following Ontario Courts and Tribunals:
