Congratulations to Sonya Jain for her appointment by the Lieutenant Governor in Council to the Ontario Consent and Capacity Board (CCB).

The CCB is an independent body created under the Health Care Act. It conducts hearings under the Mental Health Act, the Health Care Consent Act, the Personal Health Information Protection Act, the Substitute Decisions Act and the Mandatory Blood Testing Act. The mission of the CCB is “fair and accessible adjudication of consent and capacity issues, balancing the rights of vulnerable individuals with public safety.”

Sonya has years of experience representing vulnerable clients, most notably her involvement with the Personal Rights Panel of the Office of the Children’s Lawyer where she represents children in both custody and access cases and child protection cases.
