Our Firm

HGR Graham Partners LLP was formed on January 1, 2012 by the merger of two law firms with long and distinguished histories in Central Ontario, Hacker Gignac Rice LLP and Graham Partners LLP.

The Law Firm of Hacker Gignac Rice (“HGR”) was formed in January 1981 with the three founding partners coming from three historic Midland law firms. Fred Hacker, Q.C., a fourth generation Midland resident, formerly practiced law in partnership with Douglas G. Haig Q.C. John Gignac, with deep roots in the Penetanguishene area, was a partner in Teskey, Heacock, Ferguson and Gignac firm. Greg Rice was a partner of John Gammell. The firm expanded into Orillia in 2000 when R. Bruce Waite Q.C. merged his practice with HGR.

Graham Partners LLP (“GP”) was formerly known as Graham, Wilson & Green, a firm founded in 1975. Marshall Green was one of the founding partners of the firm along with John Graham and Tom Wilson. Wendy Miller, formerly a sole practitioner, merged her practice with GP in 2011. Another Barrie sole practitioner, Sonya Jain, merged her Barrie practice with the new HGR Graham Partners firm on January 1, 2012.

On January 1, 2014, another prominent firm in the Orillia and Barrie areas merged with HGR Graham Partners. Zwicker Evans Lewis was known in the community for their outstanding commitment to excellence, and has earned a reputation as one of Simcoe County’s leading law firms. With offices in Barrie for over 25 years and Orillia for over 40 years, Zwicker Evans Lewis developed its core practices and services to clients throughout Simcoe County, Muskoka and York region.
